TONYMOLY: LIPTONE Get It Tint vs. Delight Tony Tint Review & Comparison

3:04 pm

The Tonymoly Liptone tint, famous for its Pantone colour chip packaging and nail polish-like bottle has been super popular as it looks #aesthetic af. I will be reviewing the lip tint in 05 All Night Red, with a ~bonus comparison~ to another very popular liptint from Tonymoly: the Delight tint in Cherry pink. The Liptone has been gaining a lot of popularity recently and the Delight tint is always being recommended by people on tumblr since forever so thought I'd do a comparison between two top tints from Tonymoly. But why am I comparing a red tint to a pink tint? Well..... keep reading to find out. [If you like spoilers then the TL:DR Round Up is at the end of the review]

Look how pretty the packaging is....

PRODUCT INFO

Type: Gel/"Slightly thicker than water" tint
Volume: 9.5 grams
Shades: 1. Pink Ming 2. Coral Ming 3. Play Orange
4. Red Hot 5. All Night Red 6. Dark Night
Where to buy: ebay

There are actually TWO caps to it, the square cap you pop off to reveal the actual twistable cap, reminds me of Essie's nail polishes.  I guess the square cap is to prevent leaking as well as for design reasons. Sometimes I forget to put the 2nd cap back on though ;;

As you can see, the tint looks like a deep red in the bottle, so far so good. When I first got this lip tint, at this point I'm completely convinced this will be a red lip tint.

The applicator is a tiny lil doe foot, with only a slight angle to it. Gotta be really careful with this since the neck of the bottle is so small and gets messy quite easily.

Swatches of the Liptone in All Night Red and Delight Tony Tint in Cherry Pink.

Swatch #1 is very very watery, no texture, just a very lightweight liquid.
Swatch #2 has a slight gel texture.

Now guess which one is the "red." 1 or 2? 1 looks like a deep red, a bit like what it looks like in the bottle doesn't it.

Answer: 2. Swatch #2 is "All Night Red" BUT WHY IS IT PINK????? It is clearly a fuschia pink where the swatch was applied before being blended out???

Swatch #1 is the Delight Tint in "Cherry pink" and it does look like the stain you get after eating some cherries!

A very popular tint that many people seem to have as their first lip tint! My first lip tint was the Fresh Cherry Tint from Etude House, the red one, which unfortunately comes out pink too...

PRODUCT INFO

Type: Water tint
Shades: 1. Cherry Pink 2. Red 3. Orange Cha Cha
Volume: 9ml
Where to buy: ebay

The Delight tint is in simple packaging and comes with no box, but the black applicator end of the cap is a cute heart shape!!

The applicator has a long stem with a flat and slanted doe foot. Even though the longer applicator is nicer to hold, the length of the stem being so far away from the lips actually makes it slightly harder control? or maybe thats just me (i tend to get hand spasms and cramps)

LIP SWATCHES

LIP TONE GET IT TINT

1. Bare lips | 2. Gradient lips | 3. Full application

-I have really thin, dry lips and barely a cupids bow on my upper lip so they don't look that great without some sort of lip product on.
-Before using any lip tint its crucial to apply lip balm and exfoliate away any dead skin, because the lip tint is just gonna cling onto the dry patches and crack and flake and it aint gonna look pretty. This goes for pretty much all lip products without a glossy finish.
-Since my lips are pretty much non existent I don't do gradient lips with bb cream or concealer; I just apply less colour to form the lip shape and then concentrate the product in the centre for a gradient effect.

When doing a gradient lip with the Supposedly Red Tint, it just looks...pink. Quite a pretty pink though.

But when you apply it as a full lip colour you kinda see how it can be red... a cool pink toned red.
Applying the Liptone tint fully on the lips is easy with its slightly-thicker-than-water formula, A LOT easier than applying the watery Delight tint. It is also a more hydrating formula than the Delight tint, so your lips wont end up looking like a prune!! It has a slight sheen and you can get the glossy look if you don't blot, but the gloss will wear off pretty quick.

OK SO THE AMAZING THING ABOUT THIS LIP TINT IS THAT IT SURVIVED KFC WICKED WINGS!!! If it survives fried chicken it gooooood

DELIGHT TINT

1. Bare lips | 2. Gradient lips | 3. Stain after full application

Before you use the Delight tint, make sure you do not have ANY dry flaking skin on your lips because this tint is probably the lip product that accentuates dryness the most out of all lip products.

Why is the 3rd picture only the stain and not the actual full application? Because it looks fucking awful and I'm doing a favour for not posting it on the internet LOL. The wateryness of the tint is really hard to control if you want a true full coloured lip, but the stain it leaves after blotting looks lovely, and gives my lips a more defined shape.

You can build up the pigmentation by reapplying and blotting a couple times.
In my opinion, the Delight tint is better for doing a natural gradient lip, whereas the Liptone tint is better for a full lip colour application. (But yes you can definitely use the Liptone for gradient lips too!!)

Apply lots of lip balm before and after the tint, because it does dry out your lips, but you will be fine using this if you apply lip balm! (I lost like 3 or 5 lip balms last year LOL but the one I got recently is Nivea Repair and Protection from the supermarket- its actually pretty good, works better than eos)

COMPARATIVE TL;DR ROUND UP

COLOUR: Delight tint in Cherry Pink is cherry pink. Liptone in All Night Red is not so red...but still a pretty colour!

TEXTURE: Liptone is a bit like a gel thats slightly thicker than water; Delight is a watery tint and doesn't feel like you have anything on your lips.

APPLICATION: Liptone is easy to apply, will accentuate dry patches but is more forgiving than Delight tint. Delight tint stains the lips very naturally, but you must have a perfectly smooth surface for it to sit on top of.

MOISTURE: The Delight tint is really drying on the lips so lip balm is a must when using it. Liptone isn't very moisturising but it is not drying like the Delight tint.

LONGEVITY: Both tints stain very well: they do not budge with any smudging or rubbing with water, can last through eating kfc and pizza etc, stays on for pretty much the whole day (colour fades after 5 or so hours?) but the stain is still there even at the end of the day.

REMOVAL: Delight Tint comes off with cleanser after 2 minutes of rubbing; Liptone can be removed about 80% with cleanser after I give up and just leave it....
THE LIPTONE IS JUST SO HARD TO TAKE OFF I STILL HAVE A PINK STAIN ON MY ARM AND FINGER.... this means that Liptone has longer lasting power, though its competitor Delight is already very long lasting!!

SCENT: Liptone smells like berries, Delight smells like artificial grape
Both taste kinda sweet when it gets into your mouth, nothing bad.

Both these tints are really pretty on the lips and have excellent staying power, as expected from tints. Tints are the best on days you want to eat everything but still have pretty lips after demolishing all the food!! :")
I recommend the Liptone to everyone as it comes in more colours and the formula is easy to work with! The Delight tint would suit to those who take really good care of their lips. Its just a bit too high maintenance for me my lips are always dry but theyre getting better now and there are other tints that aren't as drying ;~;

My favourite lip tint is actually a stick tint, the Honey Melting Tint from Aritaum, and I use it nearly every day!! Maybe I'll review it?

If you read this whole review then THATS AMAZING THANK YOU SO MUCH.....

  2. Thank you so much for the review. I already own delight cherry red one, and I wanted to buy new pink tint. I've tried matte lipstick, regular lipstick, and lip glosses but tints are the best. You don't need to worry about it staining the cup or other things.

After reading your review, I've decided to go with the Liptone. Great review.
